THE CHARITY, COURTS AND FACILITIES

Who we are and what we do!

  • Wigmore became a charitable organisation in 2019.  Membership is open to all standards of players and we try to keep membership fees as low as possible while providing the best facilities we can. We don’t have a separate ‘joining fee’ and those in financial hardship can talk to us about payment options

  • As a charity, we aim to run a series of ‘Open Days’ throughout the year when members of the local community can come and try out tennis for free.  Organised by one of our team of coaches, juniors and adults are given access to our courts to enjoy a taster lesson of tennis and experience the fun of running around on court getting exercise, trying to outwit your opponent or simply to get the ball over the net!

  • We are currently in the planning stages of some other new projects to benefit the local community.  We are looking at sponsoring lessons for some local disadvantaged people and putting on some activities to bring others together for some fun exercise while meeting other local people

  • Throughout the year, our excellent team of coaches run private lessons or group sessions for all standards of players, from complete beginners to team players

  • Our coaches also visit local schools, delivering tennis lessons to local school children

Our Facilities

  • We have 8 all-weather courts consisting of 4 artificial clay, 3 porous acrylic and 1 synthetic grass court.

  • Don’t let the short winter days stop you playing!  All of our courts are floodlit and we are hoping to secure some funding to upgrade ALL of them to LED lights in 2022 as some of the current lights (installed 20+ years ago) need upgrading to provide a better light to play under and to make them more sustainable to run

  • Our clubhouse and decking were renovated in 2021. We changed all of the toilet and changing facilities to become individual unisex units which are fully LTA safeguarding compliant.  With social distancing in mind, we have also expanded the main area within the clubhouse so that more members and visitors can use the facilities safely, whether to enjoy a drink at the bar after their tennis or to wait in the warm while their children are out on court!

  • Hone your skills with the practice wall, and the top of the range ball machine

  • We have fantastic online booking system. Check availability and books courts from your home computer or mobile device.

Competitive Tennis

  • We run a number of competitions throughout the year, catering for all standards of players. We run box leagues for juniors and adults, have internal singles and doubles knockout competitions, compete in the Surrey Tennis leagues, participate in a local clubs competition (the Millennium Cup) and run Open tournaments with entry through the LTA. Please look at our Competitions & Teams pages for more information
