Box leagues - end date extended

Thanks to all those taking part in the winter box league. So far we have completed about a third of matches, which shows great competitive spirit through some pretty hostile weather. The number of three-set thrillers and tie-break deciders suggests a healthy competition, now in its third season under the current format. Because of the bad weather and to make sure we get a meaningful result in all 13 boxes, we are extending the original March 15th finish date until publication of the summer tournament draw, which we hope will be by mid-April. The strength of the competition lies in the sheer numbers playing - over 100 of you - allowing all abilities to find their level. Its weakness is entrants who don’t play, because that distorts results and deprives others of matches.  So as usual, if you entered the leagues but we judge that you did not make enough effort to play, we will not let you enter the next round.

Suggestions are very welcome if you have ideas about how we can improve the leagues, or other competition ideas. Just email Andy Callus, whose email details are on the member section of the club web site.

Also, watch this space. Entries for the 2020 club tournament (finals day July Saturday 11th) - will open soon.

Enjoy your matches! Andy and Jimmy
